The Multipurpose Hall in Piatra-Neamt will be energetically rehabilitated as part of a project worth 45 million RON, of which 33 million RON are Swiss non-reimbursable funds.
The mayor of Piatra-Neamt, Adrian Nita, stated, quoted in a press release, that the financing is provided through the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Program, for the transformation of existing public buildings into NZEB energy-efficient buildings, which means almost zero energy consumption.
"The Multipurpose Hall in Piatra-Neamt, one of the largest and most important infrastructures in Moldova, with an area of ??11,000 square meters, is entering rehabilitation after 15 years since its inauguration. How many times have we gone through emotions and even unpleasant moments because of the roof that caved in? Well, those times are behind us! In the spring of this year, we submitted the project for financing, with the promise that we will not let this hall turn off its lights. (...) We will change the roof and put an end to the problems that have given us so much trouble. We will modernize the interior and the carpentry, so that the hall can also host concerts or cultural events. We will completely rebuild the installations and install photovoltaic panels, heat pumps and modern systems, so that the building is sustainable and energy efficient," Adrian Nita said.
The building, built between 2005-2010, with a capacity of 4,000 seats, has high energy consumption, caused by the lack of efficient thermal insulation.
In addition, the technical systems are oversized or inefficient and there is no integrated automation system.
Also, the spaces are not adapted to accessibility requirements for people with disabilities, and the uneven distribution of the heating agent generates severe thermal discomfort.
The design and execution of the facility will be put out to tender, and work is expected to begin in the spring of 2026
