Negative natural growth of Romania`s population in August (INS)

The natural growth of the population was negative in August 2016, similar with August 2015, when the negative natural growth was higher (3,284 persons), according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Monday.

According to the statistics, in August 2016, compared with the same period of the previous year, the number of live-births was higher by 3,612 and the number of deceased persons was higher by 529.

The natural growth was negative both in August 2016 (201 persons) and in August 2015 (3,284 persons).

Also, the number of children under one year who died was lower by 9 in August 2016 compared to the number recorded in August 2015.

At the same time, the number of marriages dropped by 702, while the number of divorces, pronounced by final court rulings and according to Law No.202/2010, in August 2016 was by 831 higher than August 2015.

According to the INS, in August 2016 there were recorded 19,603 births, by 3,230 more children than in July 2016. On the other hand, the number of persons whose deceases were recorded in the same period was 19,804, by 838 higher than in July 2015.

Also on a comparative level, August versus July 2016, the official data reveal that the number of deaths among children under one year was 120, increasing by 8 children.

In August 2016, a number of 22,200 marriages were recorded, by 2,767 more than in July 2016, and the number of divorces pronounced by final court rulings and according to the Law No.202/2010 was 2,475, by 406 more than in July.
