New car registrations saw an increase of 4.7 percent last year compared with 2024, standing at 155,855 units, according to the preliminary data released on Monday by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) based on the General Directorate for Driving Licenses and Registrations (DGPCI) statistics.
In December 2025 alone, new car registrations jumped 58.4 percent compared with the same month in 2024, reaching 21,203 units.
Meanwhile, fully electric vehicles recorded a modest increase of just 1.4 percent compared with December 2024, at 1,354 units.
Among the top 10 brands by registrations, Dacia leads with 6,796 units, followed by Renault - 2,638, Toyota - 1,704, Skoda - 1,148, Hyundai - 1,122, Volkswagen - 1,043, Ford - 833, KGM - 630, MG - 526 and BMW - 491.
The top 10 new car registrations by model are: Dacia Duster - 2,195 units, Dacia Logan - 2,133, Renault Clio - 1,405, Dacia Sandero - 830, Dacia Bigster - 789, Dacia Jogger - 564, Toyota Corolla - 505, Skoda Octavia - 408, Hyundai Tucson - 402 and Toyota RAV4 - 394.
