President Nicusor Dan declared on Thursday that there is a state of tension in Romanian society, there is a lot of dissatisfaction that has accumulated, and against this background, on certain aspects, such as the functioning of the governing coalition, the picture is not perfect.
Nicusor Dan was asked on Digi 24 about the state of mind of Romanians in relation to the governing coalition.
"The most important thing is that purchasing power has decreased. We had inflation of 10% (...). This is the most important thing for Romanians, as I perceive reality. Beyond that, like the media, in public opinion things seem worse than they are. (...) There is a state of tension in society, there is a lot of dissatisfaction that has accumulated and then, somehow, on certain aspects, such as the functioning of the coalition, I think the image is not perfect", said Nicusor Dan.
He added that there is no prospect of any tax increases this year.
"On many issues, we did not have the same opinion as the Government, but where we are aligned is on the fact that both the measures from July - August last year and the measures that came into force in January this year were announced and it has been said since then that there will be no more. So far, the Government has kept its word and there is no prospect of tax increases. There is no risk of tax increases in the near future", he said.
