The number of companies that suspended their activity in the first eight months of 2023 was 10,139, up 5.64% compared to the same period in 2022, according to data published by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
Most companies that suspended their activity in the mentioned interval were from Bucharest, namely 1,231 (up 21.4% compared to January-August 2022).
By activity sectors, the highest number of suspensions was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 2,447 (-10.20%), in professional, scientific and technical activities - 991 suspensions (+14.57%) and information and communications - 964 suspensions (+50.39%).
