Oana Toiu took over the mandate of Foreign Minister from Emil Hurezeanu on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
According to the cited source, the two had a face-to-face discussion, followed by a working meeting, with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, agerpres reports.
The discussions focused on the priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the immediate future, with an emphasis on the situation in the Middle East and the safety of Romanian citizens in the region, as well as the longer-term measures included in the calendar of bilateral and multilateral actions.
The main lines of action of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also discussed in order to achieve the governing program approved by the Romanian Parliament, the cited source indicates.
Oana Toiu is part of President Nicusor Dan's delegation to the NATO Summit in The Hague, which begins on Tuesday.
