Secretary of State with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) Violeta Musat attended on Monday a trilateral online meeting with her counterparts from Bulgaria and Greece, in order to discuss the current epizootic situation in the Balkan region and to coordinate the joint actions of the three countries in the context of free movement in the Schengen Area.
According to a post on the ministry's Facebook page, the meeting agenda included topics such as: sheep and goat pox, bluetongue disease, as well as the measures to control and restrict illegal animal movement between the three countries amid free transit through Schengen border points, agerpres reports.
The discussions were aimed at coordinating the efforts of Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, in order to prevent the spread of animal diseases, and the heads of the veterinary authorities of the three countries were also invited to the meeting.
Alexandru Bociu, the president of the the National Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA), alongside other officials from the institution attended the meeting on behalf of Romania.
