The Agency for Funding Rural Investments (AFIR) announced on Friday the official launch of an online platform for Romania's Local Action Groups (LAGs), part of the agency's commitment to modernise and streamline access to European funds dedicated to rural development.

Thus, from June 20, the platform can be accessed at https://gal.afir.ro, becoming the only and official working channel for the LAGs implementing projects funded through intervention DR-36 LEADER - Local development placed under the responsibility of the community, within the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027, agerpres reports.

"This digital platform, designed and developed at the level of the AFIR IT department, without any additional budgetary effort, is an essential tool for efficient, transparent and real-time management of local projects, offering modern functionalities that simplify administrative processes and increase the operational capacity of LAGs. Through this approach, AFIR continues the extensive process of digitalisation of public services, supporting the transformation of the way rural communities access and use the available funding," said AFIR Director General Adrian Chesnoiu is quoted as saying in a press statement released on Friday.

The platform allows the complete management of the implementation stages of the Local Development Strategies, from the submission of funding applications to the monitoring of projects, in a secure and intuitive space. Access to the platform is achieved by using the digital authentication data (username and password) already used by the LAGs in the strategy submission stage, but it will also allow beneficiaries access, both with a personal gmail account and with an account created within the RoeID Platform - developed by the Authority for Digital Transformation of Romania.

The use of the platform becomes mandatory for all LAGs starting from this moment, being a concrete step towards the professionalisation of local administration and strengthening partnerships between the state and local communities.
