Over 60 clandestine immigrants arrived in Constanta Port ask for Romanian state's protection

The over 60 foreign citizens, who were found by the Coast Guard aboard a Black Sea craft on the night of November 27 to 28 and were subsequently taken to Constanta Port, requested the granting of an international protection form from the Romanian state, being accommodated in special centers, according to a press release issued on Monday by the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI). 

Immigration policemen took over last weekend, from the Border Police, 65 people detected by the Coast Guard aboard a boat in the area of Constanta Port, in the evening of November 27, informs an IGI press release. 

"As a result of the unfolded activities, it has been established that the group consists of 31 men, 11 women and 23 children, who declared themselves to be from Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan and because all persons have applied for some form of international protection from the Romanian state, they were accommodated in the IGI administration centers, where they will go through the asylum procedure. Throughout the asylum procedure, the applicants receive material, financial, medical, psychological and legal assistance measures, access to the workforce market and cultural adaptation activities," the source quoted. 

Since the start of the year, over 4,600 people have applied for an international protection form with the Romanian state, most of them being from states such as Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
