Over 60,000 hired on employment incentives five months into 2026

As many as 60,034 people were hired in the first five months of 2026 in Romania as a result of the application of the employment incentive measures provided by the legislation in force by the county employment agencies and the Bucharest employment agency, with almost half of them being over 45 years old.

According to the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), of the total number of people hired as of May 31, 29,294 are over 45 years old, including 10,934 who are over 55 years old, 12,546 who are between 35 and 45 years old, 5,079 who are between 30 and 35 years old, 4,888 who are between 25 and 30 years old, and 8,227 who are under 25 years old. Of the total employed people, 10,187 are young NEETs.

The number of women hired is 28,957, and of men is 31,077.

Of the 60,034 people hired nationwide, 31,429 people come from urban areas (52.35% of all hired persons) and 28,605 people from rural areas (47.65% of all hired persons).

Most of the hired ones were high school graduates (20,495), vocational school graduates (13,424), secondary school graduates (13,271), primary school graduates or without formal education (3,425), post-secondary graduates (1,543), and 7,876 are university graduates. Of the total number of people hired, 14,719 are part of the category of those who are difficult and very difficult to employ.

A ranking by counties of the most hired people shows that Bucharest occupies the first place (5,755), followed by Iasi (2,516) and Constanta (220).
