Over 9,000 police officers will act daily nationwide in Romania, between April 22 and 25, to maintain public order and safety, both in areas with high influx of people and in the vicinity of places of worship.
"Measures will be taken to maintain public order in crowded places (stations, airports, markets, markets, fairs, etc.), in the vicinity of places of worship, where religious services are to be held, as well as in tourist resorts, recreational areas and border crossing points," informs a release of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
Traffic police officers will act on access roads that converge on places of worship and recreation areas, at high risk points for accidents and during heavy traffic hours, to combat speeding, prevent accidents and roadblocks, direct, streamline and control traffic on the main communication routes to and from the tourist resorts.
For monitoring road traffic and coordination of traffic devices, on the main arteries, in the intervals in which heavy traffic is expected, helicopters from the General Aviation Inspectorate will be used, depending on the atmospheric conditions and the evolution of the registered traffic values.
"During this period, an average of 1,600 traffic police officers will act daily on major national roads and highways to prevent serious accidents and streamline traffic on access roads to places of worship and tourist resorts," the source said.
In order to prevent serious traffic accidents and to maintain a cautious attitude in traffic, traffic police officers will operate, on average, 370 radars across the country.
The transport police will ensure public order measures, on a daily basis, in passenger trains, in railway stations and sorting stations, airports and ports on the Black Sea or on the Danube.
According to the quoted source, on the night of the Resurrection, in order to maintain public order at religious events, traffic police officers will be engaged, from public order, from criminal investigations and from other structures.
"We advise citizens to drive carefully and not to drive if they have consumed alcoholic beverages. We also recommend that they follow the instructions of the traffic police, who are in traffic for the safety of all," said IGPR.
