Acting Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu called on the Social Democrats on Wednesday, during the joint session of Parliament, to stop "blocking" the country and to allow reforms to continue by casting the necessary vote to invest the Siegfried Muresan government.
"Mr. Grindeanu promised you all that you would return to power within a few days. News flash: five months have passed. You had time to build majorities, play political games, and conduct all your negotiations. You failed. It all fell through. Today, the time has come to admit that you can no longer hold an entire country hostage just because you promised certain local barons that, come what may, you would return to power in a few days," she said.
Buzoianu stated that the authorities must restructure state-owned companies, secure European funds, and conduct "genuine" inspections within institutions. To this end, he advocated for a government with full powers in order to continue the reforms.
"Do not be afraid! No one is asking you to join in the work we couldn't ask that of you. But we do ask that you at least stop inventing reasons to keep blocking this country for months on end," she told the PSD members.
According to her, Romania has not changed for the better in recent decades because of the politicians who were the "direct beneficiaries" of an unjust system.
"Shoe boxes, Nordis jets, trips to Mykonos, all those villas on every street... What was the great threat to this entire reality? The possibility that certain people might come to power and stop fighting for these unjust perks. Or, quite the opposite, that they would fight to change this system. In the current government, we scrutinized companies failing to deliver results, unjust privileges, and services not being provided to citizens. That is when the scandal with the PSD began. That is when the obstruction by the PSD began. And you even went so far as to bring down a government, alongside your friends from AUR," stated Diana Buzoianu.
Addressing AUR leader George Simion, he told him that he had tried to adopt a "somewhat mystical, guru-like" tone, but hadn't quite succeeded.
The Senate and the Chamber of Deputies met in a joint session on Wednesday to vote on the governing program and the list of the government proposed by Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan.
