Parliament decided in a plenary session on Tuesday, the appointment of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) MP Mihai Weber in the position of chairman of the Special Parliamentary Committee for the control of the activity of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE).
The vote was secret with ballots. There were 311 votes in favor and 43 against.
Weber replaces USR (Save Romania Union) MP Nicu Falcoi, who took over the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Committee of December 1989 Revolutionaries.
The parliamentarians also decided, at the proposal of the National Liberal Party (PNL) group, that unaffiliated MP Antonel Tanase, who had been secretary of the SIE Control Committee, should no longer be part of this committee.
Also, the plenum decided, at the proposal of the PSD group, that the Social Democrat deputies Silviu Nicu Macovei and Oana Consuela Florea be appointed members of the Committee for the control of the activity of the Romanian Intelligence Service, instead of the deputy Mitica-Marius Margarit and, respectively, Senator Marius Dunca.
Silviu Nicu Macovei and Oana Florea were sworn in after the decision, Agerpres informs.
