The Platform for Democracy, Prosperity and Progress (PDPP), made up of the Renewing Romania's European Project (REPER), the Democracy and Solidarity Party (DEMOS), ACUM and VOLT parties, submitted almost 200,000 signatures for the parliamentary elections to the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) on Saturday, with REPER co-chair Dragos Pislaru pointing out that this campaign will be about solutions for a more democratic, more prosperous Romania, about the "real" problems of the country, informs Agerpres.
"We, in this platform, we discuss the real problems of Romania, inequality and how we can create a more equitable society, demography and how we can take better care of children, young people, the elderly, the vulnerable (...). How you can generate prosperity and, yes, we need to look at entrepreneurs. All these things need to be said and our campaign will be about the solutions for a more democratic, more prosperous Romania and where, really, progress is the thing we have to do and to achieve," Pislaru said.
In turn, Ramona Strugariu, REPER co-chair, said that the PDPP's message to the other parties, "who want to make a difference," is to leave aside personal egos.
"We are in front of the BEC, where the PDPP has submitted almost 200,000 signatures for validation (...). Our lists have remained open until the last moment to other parties that want to make a difference. Our message is the same, we must leave personal egos aside, because we are all for this prosperous, democratic, progressive Romania, open to the new and to Europe," Strugariu said.
The representatives of the other PDPP parties also criticised the current political class, whom they described as "incompetent."
"We made this decision because we want a different future. We want a Romania where you live not just to work. Today, to work in the country means to give the state almost half of your salary and not to receive quality public services. We want a Romania without incompetent politicians. (...)," VOLT Party Chair Mihaela Siritanu showed.
Claudiu Craciun, Democracy and Solidarity Party (DEMOS) chairman, also voiced concern about what is happening in Romanian political life.
"(...) We need politics based on love and solidarity. Our fight this autumn is a simple one, it is a fight for a brave Parliament, for a responsible Parliament, for a clean Parliament, because Parliament is the mirror of the people, not one president or another," he concluded.
