The state has an obligation to explain to the point how Romania ended up with a debt of two hundred billion euros and what was done with this money, says chair of the Party of Young People (POT) Anamaria Gavrila.
"The Party of Young People calls for total transparency, real accountability from decision-makers for budgetary imbalances and a complete reset of the state's priorities in favour of citizens, not party interests," the POT leader said on Wednesday in a post on her Facebook page, agerpres reports.
Anamaria Gavrila points out that "the austerity ordinance is the bill for irresponsible governments, which is being paid by the Romanian people."
"We lie nicely until the elections are over. Then, the citizens are the ones who suffer. Romanians are once again forced to pay for the waste, indifference and electoral manipulation of those in power. After Romanians silently accepted the ordinance of January 2024, Ciolacu [former prime minister, editor's note] continued to commit Romania to loans and threw money from the state reserve around as he pleased in order to win the local, European Parliament and parliamentary elections. The country has become poorer, but they have won. The current ordinance is just the price to pay for their electoral victory and their rise to the top of the country, a decision taken in contempt of the taxpayer and without any real accountability mechanism," says the leader of the Party of Young People.
