Passengers on board KLM flight that makes emergency landing at Otopeni to be boarded for final destination

Passengers on board an Airbus A330 flight operated by KLM that made an emergency landing on Monday morning at the Henri Coanda International Airport are now safe and they will be boarded for their final destination at around 16:00hrs, EEST, according to KLM.

"About the emergency landing of the Airbus A330 airplane operated by KLM for its 446 Kuwait City - Amsterdam flight, we are glad to inform that all the passengers on board are safe at the transit area of the Henri Coanda International Airport and they will be transferred to their final destination this after-noon. To this end, a Boeing 747 airplane will be specially dispatched to take over all these passengers; its estimated landing time is 15:00hrs, EEST, expected to take off at 16:00hrs EEST," according to a KLM statement.

The Airbus A330 will stay grounded for repairs, after which it will be flown to the KLM hub in Amsterdam passenger-free.

The Bucharest National Airports Corporation (CNAB) said Tuesday morning that a KLM flight from Kuwait City to Amsterdam carrying 298 passengers on board asked permission to make an emergency landing due to technical fault at the Henri Coanda International Airport. The aircraft landed safely.

"Today, July 18, 2017, at 07:39hrs, EEST, an Airbus A330 airplane used by the KLM company to operate flight KLM 446 Kuwait City-Amsterdam, asked permission to make an emergency landing at the Henri Coanda International Airport due to a surge in oil consumption by one of its engines. Emergency measures were immediately started according to standard procedures. The aircraft landed safely at 07:55hrs," CNAB said Tuesday in a press statement.

According to CBNAB, there were 298 passengers on board and the crew. The passengers disembarked at the airport.

CNAB also said that two and a half hours afterwards, an Airbus A321 aircraft used by Scandinavian Airlines to operate SAS 7429 Copenhagen - Rhodes, flight asked permission to make an emergency landing bemuse of medical problems with a passenger who can hardly breathe and had low blood pressure.

After the aircraft landed at the same airport at 10:13hrs, the airport's medical team rushed aboard and managed to stabilise the passenger.

The incident reportedly did not affect air traffic at the Henri Coanda Airport.
