On Monday, Romania's Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka was the venue for a refined artistic recital by Romanian pianist Horia Mihail, one of the most appreciated musicians in our country, the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a release.
For an hour, the artist captivated the audience with the virtuosity and sensitivity of his rendition of compositions by Mozart, Chopin, Brediceanu and Debussy, agerpres reports.
"We are delighted to have pianist Horia Mihail as a guest at Expo 2025 Osaka. His presence has a special significance, given that he also performed at the Romanian Pavilion at the most recent major World Fair held on Asian soil before 2025 - the one in 2010, in Shanghai. His return in such an international context highlights the continuity and cultural value Romania brings to the stage of world exhibitions," declared the Commissioner General of the Romanian Pavilion, Ferdinand Nagy.
Horia Mihail, a soloist of the Brasov Radio and Philharmonic Orchestras, has a prestigious international career doubled by the academic and artistic experience acquired at Boston University. Together with violinist Alexandru Tomescu and cellist Razvan Suma, he has been on national and international tours and made remarkable recordings as the Romanian Piano Trio. As a founding member of the Romanian Piano Trio ensemble, Horia Mihail has represented Romania on prestigious international stages, including at Expo 2010 Shanghai, performing at the Romanian Pavilion as part of an emblematic cultural project.
A complex and innovative artist, Horia Mihail is also the initiator of successful national projects such as The Traveling Piano, The Duel of the Violins, The Magic Flute and Enescu's Violin in villages. His reputation goes beyond the borders of the country, as he earned acclaim on four continents and on renowned stages such as New York's Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington.
