Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Monday said that he had asked the governing coalition to respect the protocol according to which it operates, stressing that the information circulating in the public space claiming that he intended to change the rules of this protocol is not true.

He was asked on Antena 3 private television broadcaster whether he wanted to change the rules of the governing coalition protocol.

'That is fake news. (...) I have never discussed changing the protocol. What we all need to do, in general, is to respect our agreements, to respect one another and to respect the protocol as well. If we do that, things will be fine. (...) I raised the issue that we must respect the protocol. That is the most important thing,' Bolojan underscored.

In this context, he said that the vote cast by the Social Democratic Party in the Senate in favour of the simple motion against Minister of the Environment Diana Buzoianu represented a breach of the coalition protocol.

He pointed out that his objective as prime minister is to see the goals set out in the governing programme carried through to completion, but that within the current coalition it is not very easy to bring together forces from different parties, Agerpres informs.

Regarding the fact that the Social Democratic Party is set to analyse whether it will remain in government or not, he said that 'each party carries out its own assessments.'

'We are approaching the end of the year, this government has been in place for six months and it seems only sensible to carry out some evaluations. You need to see what the alternatives are, of course, and what needs to be done. (...) This government will function as long as it has parliamentary support and, from my point of view, as long as it is able to do something. Simply holding a position without being able to do what needs to be done is immoral towards the citizens of our country,' Prime Minister Bolojan added.
