We can only build a better future for Romanians based of a strong Constitution and fair laws, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan underscored on Monday, in a message sent on the occasion of Romania's Constitution Day.
"The Romanian Constitution is the foundation on which our democratic state is built. It provides us with direction and stability, defending the values that define our society. It is the framework that gives state institutions the power to protect the fundamental rights of Romanians, in a time when we are facing increasingly complex challenges. The fundamental law also contributes to the formation of a solid civic conscience. A society that has confidence in its institutions and is involved in community life is essential for the health of democracy and for the consolidation of our democratic path," Bolojan stated.
According to him, the Constitution adopted in 1991 and revised in 2003 remains a benchmark for the functioning of political and institutional life.
"Our Constitution adopted in 1991 and revised in 2003 accompanied the major transformations that Romania went through: the exit from dictatorship, the modernisation of its institutions, NATO accession and integration into the European Union. And today it remains a benchmark for the functioning of our political and institutional life. A better future for Romanians can only be built on the basis of a strong Constitution and fair laws. The Fundamental Law offers us this basis, on which we can continue to consolidate the protection of citizens' rights, the development of Romanian society and our European and Euro-Atlantic path," the Prime Minister highlighted.
