PM Ciolacu in Brussels: I was happy to see that the health of one of our firefighters is improving

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu went to the Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels on Friday morning, where he visited two of the firefighters injured in the Crevedia explosions, told Agerpres.

He told the families of the injured that the firefighters will receive the best medical care, and their families will have support, including financial support, to be with them during the treatment.

"I was happy to see that the health of one of our firefighters, a 22-year-old young man, is improving. He was extubated and is about to be released from intensive care. I talked to him and pepped him up to cope well with his tragedy. We are also waiting for good news about the state of health of the second Romanian firefighter treated at the Military Hospital in Brussels. We spoke with his wife; we encouraged her and assured her of all our support. I wish good health to our injured firefighters and we look forward to seeing them at home," said Ciolacu.

He talked with the doctors and management of the Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels who are caring for the two firefighters.

"I am deeply grateful to the doctors and the entire medical team of the Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels! I have congratulated them on their quick response offered to Romania, for their high professionalism, humanity and passion for patient care. Romania greatly appreciates this support and is grateful for the exemplary way in which Romanian patients are treated!" said Ciolacu.

The prime minister's visit to the Queen Astrid Military Hospital took place as part of a trip to Brussels, August 31-September 1, to meet high-ranking European officials. Twelve Romanian patients with serious burns covering between 10 and 80% of their bodies are treated in healthcare facilities outside Romania.
