Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said Thursday that he is "firmly" convinced that on June 9 the candidates of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the joint PSD and National Liberal Party (PNL) candidates will win the elections.
"I am firmly convinced that on Sunday, June 9, the PSD candidates and the joint PSD and PNL candidates will win the elections. Four years ago some new politicians emerged, some untainted people. You haven't seen anything like this before. Some saviours of the administration, some saviours of Bucharest, some saviours of Romania, some people who somehow emerged from the foam of the sea. What happened after four years - they borrowed hundreds of billions, they managed a pandemic that I don't think anyone would have imagined they could manage, they had a formidable administration in Bucharest. The people of Bucharest can go to the new hospitals with great pleasure, the children to nurseries and kindergartens, the teenagers to schools. The problem is that they haven't built any, they haven't built any hospitals, they haven't built any nurseries, they haven't built any kindergartens, instead they've been constantly fighting imaginary enemies," Ciolacu said at the closing event of the election campaign organised by the PSD in Bucharest.
He stressed that in Bucharest there must be a team made up of the mayor general and the district mayors, and that local administration must be about performance, about European funds, just as the capital's administration must be an open door for both citizens and district mayors.
"Together they must create a team, together they must find the best solutions," Ciolacu said.
