Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca declared, on Wednesday, that solutions must be found to ensure the balance of the energy market within the European Union, stressing that during the discussions held with his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, they agreed that the price of gas must be decoupled from the price of electricity.
"We discussed the aspects of what the energy crisis means. This problem of electricity and natural gas prices, we agree that we must decouple the price of gas from the price of electricity. We must find solutions, so that at the level of the European Union we ensure the balance of the energy market," Ciuca stated, in the press conference held together with his Spanish counterpart.
He pointed out that the authorities in Bucharest used the Iberian model when they analyzed the way in which they set decisions regarding energy and gas prices.
"As such, we must find those solutions to protect our population and ensure the competitiveness of our economies. We need these decisions, because, as the dynamics of the situation show, we must adapt and come up with tailor-made solutions and I am convinced that together, through dialogue and transparency, we will find these solutions," Prime Minister Ciuca said.
