The government doesn't support the amendment lodged by PSD (Social Democratic Party, ruling) senator Serban Nicolae to the draft law for the pardon of certain punishments and measures of educational deprivation of liberty, on Tuesday said Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu. "I'm guessing that this morning the Justice Minister has just clarified it. I believe I'll do that too, and emphasise: the government doesn't back the amendment you were talking about. We have submitted a draft law to the Parliament that did not include such things. That amendment is not supported by the government," Grindeanu told a Radio Romania broadcast.
On Monday, senator Serban Nicolae has lodged to the Judicial Committee an amendment to the bill for pardoning certain punishments and some measures of educational deprivation of liberty. It provides among other things that are fully pardoned punishments of up to three years inclusive; punishments of up to seven years inclusive, whose executing has started and the rest remaining to be done is below three years; to be pardoned partially, with three years, the punishments of up to seven years inclusive, whose execution started and the rest remaining to be done is over four years.
