Prime Minister Mihai Tudose on Wednesday urged Minister-delegate for European Funds Marius Nica to dismiss the management of operational programme competitiveness, because there is a risk of Romania losing big money.
"I have a question to Minister Nica: who is in charge with operational programme competitiveness? (...) Because as far as I understand we are very close to losing some money, about 12 million euros," Tudose told Nica at the start of a government meeting.
Nica said he received information on the risk of Romania losing money for goods from the 2014-2020 financial programming, adding that he had taken the necessary measures.
"We have made the necessary arrangements to fix it and not to lose that money at the end of this November," Nica said.
Tudose asked Nica for whom there should be the "fix it," with the latter answering: "For those who have managed so far ... (...) the director of the management authority."
"I think he will be able to find a job where he will be really useful, right?," Tudose said.
Nica confirmed, adding that on Wednesday he would also ask the PM's Control Team to look into the situation at this management authority.
"Yes, we will ask for the presence of the Prime Minister's Control Team as well. (...) Today," Nica said.
