The liberals have submitted on Monday a notification to the Ombudsman to ask for the opinion of the Constitutional Court of Romania regarding the exception of unconstitutionality of the OUG (Emergency Ordinance of Gov't) referring to the Tax Code amendments.
"Right now we can only ask the Ombudsman to notify the Constitutional Court," the National Liberal Party (PNL)'s spokesman, Ionel Danca said.
In his turn, the PNL Deputy Ioan Cupsa specified that the OUG on the amendments of the Tax Code is violating the fundamental Law, that is the Constitution of Romania.
"Essentially, Prime minister Tudose and the entire gov't are violating the constitutional principles the way they also very easily violate constitutional norms. They infringed the constitutional principle of the legislative delegation. They couldn't have adopted through an OUG these amendments, which are very thick - over 27 pages, modifications of tax law norms -, because the constitutionality conditions are not met - that is the legislative delegation. Practically, the Tudose Government as executive power, is usurping the attributes of the legislative power," Cupsa stressed.
He specified that the extraordinary situation is not mentioned in the emergency ordinance.
"They never told us and they never argued why is it necessary to legislate right now, forthwith, and which is this emergency," the PNL Deputy added.AGERPRES .
