National leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Ludovic Orban said on Monday that his party is ready to resort to protests at any time to prevent the passage of provisions that affect the independence of the judiciary and urged the ruling coalition not to support a controversial bill amending justice legislation.
"The PNL is in tune with the street protests of the civil society in defence of justice independence, the continuation of anti-corruption fight, and the integrity of public offices. In Parliament, PNL fights to prevent the passage of any legal provisions that affect the independence of the justice, that stymie the fight against corruption and that affect the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens. I want to add that we, as a party, are always prepared to resort to protests, including public protests, marches, rallies and other types of street protests," Orban said after a meeting of the PNL Executive Bureau, which took place at Parliament House.
He said there was no attempt to politicise the street protests, urging the ruling coalition not to support the bill amending justice legislation.
The PNL leader indicated that the Liberals will "surely" apply for permits to rally.
