Polithink, a new independent think tank aiming to support governance through applied analyses, interdisciplinary expertise, and realistic solutions delivered in a professional and apolitical framework, will officially launch on September 9 at the first edition of the Statecraft Lab event, informs a press release of the organization.
Founded by Andreea Paul, together with Mircea Gajaila and Carmen Mitrea, Polithink aims to provide policymakers and institutional decision-makers with strategic analyses on governance, digitalization, foreign policy, education, and the economy, offering clear and actionable policy briefs. The organization will bring together expertise from multiple fields and conduct research on the impact of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, on the labor market, governance, and national security.
"We are not experts in everything, but we are experts in bringing the right people to the table. Our mission is to generate coherence in strategic thinking and to provide decision-makers with solutions, not just diagnoses," reads the press release.
The launch of Polithink also reflects Andreea Paul's growing involvement in public policy. A lecturer at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and an expert in European economic governance, Paul is known for initiatives such as INACO - the Initiative for Competitiveness - and for coordinating "The Guide to Future Jobs". She also has extensive experience at the highest levels of Romanian and European politics, having served as a state counselor and worked within the Presidential Administration and the European Parliament.
"Today, Romania more than ever needs independent spaces that cultivate strategic thinking, promote informed decisions, and connect relevant expertise with the state's real challenges. Polithink is born from this need," Andreea Paul emphasized.
Polithink's leadership team also includes two other professionals with experience in key areas for the organization's mission. Mircea Gajaila, vice president, has expertise in national security, strategic communication, and public affairs consulting, focusing on the dynamics of institutional relations and negotiation processes between state and non-state actors. Carmen Mitrea, secretary general, is an expert in European policies, international crisis management, and diplomacy.
The first Polithink event will focus on the dialogue between technology, diplomacy, and governance, featuring two major panels: E-Governing Romania - solutions to accelerate digitalization inspired by European models; and Romania's Foreign Policy in a Changing World - an analysis of the country's positioning in a volatile geopolitical context.
The founding team promises a highly substantive inaugural edition that will bring together policymakers, diplomats, and experts, as well as representatives from academia and international partners, confirming Polithink's ambition to become a key reference point in Romania's strategic ideas ecosystem
