The Pool for Insurance Against Natural Disasters (PAID) launched on April 1 the awareness campaign "The real tragedy is not the disaster, but the lack of preparedness," aiming to raise awareness about the devastating impact of natural disasters on communities in Romania.
According to a PAID press release, the campaign comes in an alarming context, where only nearly 24% of homes are financially protected against the unpredictable.
"Romania is a country exposed to natural risks, and the reality shows us that disaster can strike anytime and anywhere. The real tragedy is not just the loss of a home, but the fact that you wake up without any solution that would allow you to start over. Through this campaign, we want to encourage as many Romanians as possible to act responsibly by protecting their homes and the well-being of their families. The PAD policy is the first step towards financial protection for homes against natural disasters," PAID Romania Director General Nicoleta Radu is quoted in the statement as saying.
The campaign, broadcast on major TV and radio stations, as well as online, highlights the emotional and financial impact of a disaster, along with the consequences of not having home insurance.
"The creative concept showcases real-life situations where an earthquake or flood radically changes people's lives in just a few seconds. In that moment, the difference is made by having an insurance policy: those who are insured manage to rebuild their home due to compensation, while others are left with no solution to recover their lifetime savings," the release also reads.
In Romania, over 7 million homes lack insurance against earthquakes, floods, and landslides, exposing millions of families to major financial risks. The PAID campaign aims to change this reality by encouraging more Romanians to take steps for their family's financial security.
The Pool for Insurance Against Natural Disasters (PAID) is a private capital insurance-reinsurance company formed by insurance companies to offer mandatory home insurance against the three main risks specific to Romania: earthquake, flood, and landslides, in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 260/2008.
