The executive president of Salvatii copiii Romania [Save the Children], Gabriela Alexandrescu, who went to the mobile refugee camp in Siret on Tuesday, told AGERPRES that, so far, the organization she represents helped, in various ways, 6,000 refugee children from Ukraine, and wants to extends its activities, as it estimates approximately 10,000 children from the neighbouring country will need support.
"Right now we are operating in 11 points, in this mobile camp in Siret, but also in the one in Radauti, in the reception centres, asylum and refugee centres in Galati, Somcuta Mare, Radauti, Timisoara and Bucharest, at the border crossing points in Isaccea, Siret, Sighetu Marmatiei and, since last night, in the Bucharest North railway station, for there are very many families accommodated there, waiting to take the train and they are very tired for waiting long hours. And we are organizing spaces especially designed for children. We have volunteers and staff playing with them, trying to help them forget about this extremely difficult time there are crossing, trying to make them smile a little, help them enjoy their childhood a little. Besides that, we are also providing information to adults regarding the Romanians laws, the asylum application, the places where they want to go, transport etc," said Alexandrescu.
She specified that Salvatii Copiii organization tries to be helpful on multiple level, including by providing psychologists for mothers and children both, Agerpres.ro informs.
Moreover, the president of Salvatii Copiii Romania assures that its social programmes focused on the Romanian children will continue.
