A delegation of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the human rights institution of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is conducting the Limited Election Observation Mission of the 2025 Romanian presidential elections, from March 24 to May 23, informs the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
The AEP acting president, Zsombor Vajda, had a meeting with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights representatives, in which they discussed the steps and activities initiated by AEP in order to organize this year's presidential elections "with professionalism, transparency and fairness, so that the elections will be held in compliance with European and international standards in the field".
During the meeting, the OSCE/ODIHR representatives also detailed the calendar of activities of the Limited Election Observation Mission for the 2025 Presidential Elections in Romania. The mission is taking place at the initiative of the Romanian prime minister, Marcel Ciolacu, who approved the reiteration of the invitation for the OSCE/ODIHR to observe the presidential elections in May.
On behalf of OSCE/ODIHR, the meeting was attended by a delegation led by the Head of Mission, Eoghan Murphy.
