As of 18:00hrs EEST on Sunday, approximately 850,000 voters voted abroad in the first round of the presidential election rerun, according to data provided in real time by the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP), informs Agerpres.
The turnout abroad was higher than in the first round of the 2024 presidential election, when 675,003 Romanian citizens voted as of the same hour.
Since the opening of the polls on Friday 07:00hrs, local, until Sunday, 18:00hrs EEST, 848,002 Romanian nationals turned out to vote, including 4,106 voters who voted by mail.
The highest turnouts were reported in Italy - 153,630, Germany - 144,247, the UK - 130,025, Spain - 100,665, Moldova - 80,670, and France - 45,370.

Voting abroad ends on Sunday 21:00hrs EEST.
Romanian nationals who are abroad on election day can vote in 965 polling places abroad regardless of whether or not they have their domicile or residence outside Romania.
