Justice Minister Raluca Pruna said on Monday that, under the law, the money resulting from the sale of seized goods would be shared to the health, education, justice and interior ministries, and to the public prosecution offices. "The law stipulates how these amounts are shared - 20 per cent for the Ministry of Education, 20pct for the Ministry of Health, 15pct for the Interior Ministry, 15pct for the Prosecution Office and 15pct for the Ministry of Justice," Pruna said in a Monday's press briefing on the National Agency for Seized Assets (ANABI).

The minister explained the role that ANABI will have and its relationship with other relevant structures. "ANABI manages the assets under lien within the criminal process and as soon as we have a final ruling, ANABI's role stops and it is the role of tax authority ANAF, through a specialized department of compulsory enforcement, to recoup the damage or the product of crime, asd found by a court," she said. She added that a significant amount of money had been allocated through a Swiss financing. "We have secured a financial resource through a Swiss intermediate body, a programme of 866,000 Swiss francs, aimed at enabling the implementation of the project and putting in place the IT system and training of the personnel who will operate this system," said Pruna.
