The chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Marcel Ciolacu, declared, on Monday, at the Palace of the Parliament, after the meeting of the PSD leadership, that the mayors of the social-democratic municipalities do not agree with the amendment made in the Senate regarding the increase in property taxes, and they are going to come up with their own proposal.
He added that PSD municipal mayors have a different formula and a different vision regarding the increase of taxes on buildings, Agerpres informs.
"I understood that they will also send an official address from the Association of Municipalities in Romania regarding this matter. This increase on tax properties that helps local budgets was made three months ago, by ordinance, through the amendments to the Fiscal Code, where it was passed very clear that the notary grid will be applied. The mayors came and explained that technically this cannot be done. This amendment came up, with an increase of up to 50%, but the coefficient remaining the same. In other words, it was a decentralization and each mayor came and proposed whether to increase or not. Taxes can remain the same. With the notary grid, things were very clear, depending on the location of the property. We cannot compare the municipality of Buzau with the municipality of Bucharest. Now we are looking for another formula that would be applicable and correct," Ciolacu explained.
