Social Democratic Party (PSD) President Sorin Grindeanu said that his relationship with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the National Liberal Party (PNL) leader, is "a working one," underscoring that both of them can help improve the relationship, since "it is not a matter where one is an angel and the other a demon."

He was asked about his personal, collaborative and working relationship within the governing coalition with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

"A working one, as you've said yourselves, a working one. All of the things you have mentioned. We talk on the phone and we meet and we sit down for a coffee or a tea, sometimes we even have a meal together," Sorin Grindeanu said on Wednesday in an interview for the stirileprotv.ro website.

Asked whether he had eaten out in town with Ilie Bolojan, he replied: "No, no. Either at the Government - because, you know, the waiters are still there - or at Parliament."

Grindeanu added that he does not discuss with Bolojan the strong reactions voiced by some of his Social Democrat colleagues towards him, such as those expressed by Social Democrat leader Lia Olguta Vasilescu.

"We do not have such discussions, nor do I ask him about the excesses of certain PNL members. Things happen in both directions, not just one," Grindeanu also said.

He stressed that the working relationship he mentioned could be improved, but both leaders should take the first step in that direction.

"I believe that we both can contribute to improving the relationship. It is not a matter where one is an angel and the other a demon. There is room for improvement for both of us," Grindeanu added.
