Actress and puppeteer Dorottya Balogh from the "Puck" Puppet Theatre in Cluj-Napoca was recently presented with the Performance Award at the International Festival of Children's Theatres in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) for her rendition in the role of the Ant Queen in the show 'Fun fact'.
"Dorottya Balogh masterfully uses her undisputed acting talent in handling the puppet. In a directorial approach that requires the actor to enrich the puppeteering technique with all aspects of acting, Dorottya has found her own balance in the stage expression, which very convincingly transmits the emotions on the actor's face to the puppet - and the other way round," the jury said in its motivation, as cited in a release sent by the "Puck" Puppet Theatre.
According to the cited source, the jury of the 24th edition of the International Festival of Children's Theatres in Banja Luka was made up of playwright Zeljko Hubac, director Branislava Stefanovic and actress Svetlana Andric, and this edition also included performances from countries such as Spain, Hungary, Belgium, Portugal, Serbia, France, Bulgaria, Sweden and Tatarstan. Organized annually in October, the festival attracts approximately 10,000 spectators.
'Fun Fact' is a predominantly non-verbal show for the entire family, that also contains passages in Romanian and Hungarian, on a script by Ana Cucu Popescu and Brigitta Csog.
