Residential building permits in Romania, down 24% seven months into 2023
Residential building permits issued in Romania decreased in the first seven month by 24% y-o-y, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS ), told Agerpres.
In the first seven months of 2023, 20,196 residential building permits were issued. Decreases were recorded in all development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-1,460 permits), Sud-Muntenia (-1,019), Nord-Vest (-983), Vest (-841), Nord-Est (-642), Sud-Est (-623), Sud-Vest Oltenia (-497) and Centru(-316).
In July 2023, 3,056 residential building permits were issued (+1.3% as against June 2023), for a total usable area of 871,621 sq.m. (+8.9%). As many as 68.5% of them was for the countryside.
In July 2023, there was a monthly increase by 38 in the number of the residential building permits issued. The increase is reflected in the following development regions: Sud-Vest Oltenia (+56 permits), Centru (+46), Nord-Est (+35) and Bucharest-Ilfov (+24). Decreases were reported in the following development regions: Sud-Muntenia (-62), Vest (-29), Nord-Vest (-26) and Sud-Est (-6).
In July, 548 non-residential building permits were issued (-4.5% from June 2023), for a total usable area of 443,557 sq.m. (+35.6%).
In July 2023, there was a monthly increase in the usable area under non-residential building permits (+116,490 sq m). The increase is reflected in the following development regions: Nord-Vest (+131,948 sq.m.), Vest (+43,469), Bucharest-Ilfov (+31,572), Sud-Est (+8,312) and Centru (+4,495) . Decreases were reported in the following development regions: Nord-Est (-82,408 sqm), Sud-Vest Oltenia (-17,449) and Sud-Muntenia (-3,449).
In July 2023, there was a decrease in both residential building permits (-20.9%) and total usable area under them (-23.8%), y-o-y.
The decrease in the number of residential building permits (-809 permits) is reflected in the following development regions: Sud-Muntenia (-206 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (-201), Vest (-148 ), Nord-Est (-102), Sud-Est (-101), Nord-Vest (-56), and Sud-Vest Oltenia (-10). Increases were reported in the Centru development region (+15).
