The number of orders registered by online stores in Romania, on the occasion of "Black Friday", increased by 5% this year, compared to the 2023 edition, while revenues increased by 18%, shows a specialized analysis, published Wednesday, informs Agerpres.
According to MerchantPro, a SaaS platform for eCommerce, which was based on data collected from a sample of about a thousand local online stores, the average value of the shopping cart increased by 12%, which indicates an increased willingness of consumers to invest in quality products.
"This phenomenon of extending the discount period was also observed last year, but in 2024 the Black Week model emerged as an effective strategy for more and more retailers, who started the discounts early and continued them until Monday, from Cyber Monday. The trend reflects an increased consumer adaptation to discounts throughout the week and a more balanced approach to shopping, which has led to higher order volume and revenue than in previous years," it is specified in the report.
On "Black Friday" itself, Friday, November 8, 2024, the number of transactions stagnated, but the average basket value rose by 24%, reflecting a greater attention of buyers to premium products.
After this day, Sunday, November 10, the number of transactions was only 15% below that of Friday, a record ratio for a day of the "black week" compared to the peak recorded on the traditional day of "Black Friday".
The value of the average basket, at weekly level, was 64 euros this year, compared to 57 euros, a year ago. Strictly speaking, on November 8, the average value stood at 73 euros, 24% higher than last year's level.
The largest order registered by the shops on the MerchantPro platform was worth 30,000 euros, in a B2B online shop.
