Minister of Health Alexandru Rogobete called for calm on Wednesday, in light of the financial pressures facing healthcare facilities, and announced that the authorities are working to allocate the necessary funds by next week to ease the strain on hospitals particularly on emergency departments and ambulance services.
"The figures do not look good. I am calling for calm people should not panic, and hospitals should not panic because very soon, hopefully by next week, we will manage to allocate the necessary funds, in one form or another, to ease the significant pressure on healthcare facilities, especially on emergency departments and ambulance services. I ask patients to remain calm, as the national programs managed by the National Health Insurance House will soon be funded, and the disruptions we have been discussing all summer will come to an end. In fact, in some areas, they have already ceased," the minister stated during a press conference.
He stated that, in the absence of other solutions at the time, a significant portion of the funds earmarked for salaries was redirected to emergency departments to ensure funding for the month of October.
According to the minister, healthcare reform does not mean cuts; rather, it means modernization, making the system more efficient, showing respect for human resources, and ensuring comprehensive services for patients.
Alexandru Rogobete also announced that, starting this weekend, he will begin visiting hospitals focusing first on those facilities that require support and guidance to resolve administrative or financial bottlenecks.
"Starting this weekend, hospital visits will begin. We will start with hospitals that need a bit of help and guidance to resolve certain situations," the official stated.
Rogobete stated that, once urgent funding issues have been resolved thereby preventing a breakdown of the healthcare system one of his primary objectives is to rethink the on-call duty system and update the associated rates, including those for first-, second-, and third-year residents.
