The year we have just split from was marked by several crises, in the political field as well as in the social, by the emphasis of some unwanted economic phenomena, both in Romania and within the European Union Romania has tied destiny to, ten years ago. To us, Romanians, the Union's success is vital for development, to cut disparities that separate us from the West, to increase welfare. Hopefully the new government will finally make a priority from the European integration. May the New Year bring fulfillment of hopes for a better life to all Romanians! Happy New Year!" wrote Ion Iliescu on his personal blog.
