Romania, Bulgaria ink joint declaration on labour conditions, employees' rights' protection

Minister of Labour and Social Policies of Bulgaria's Government, Biser Petkov and Minister of Labour and Social Justice with Romania's Government, Lia - Olguta Vasilescu on Tuesday inked in Varna a joint declaration by which the two countries agree on strengthening the exchange of information, experience and viewpoints regarding labour policies and practices, a release by the Romanian relevant ministry, MMJS, sent to Agerpres, reads.

The agreement, the source says, also aims at the transnational cooperation, through the European Structural and Investments Funds (ESIF). The document is targeting the following fields: Youth employment and the Labour mobility package; Gender equality and combating domestic violence; Child protection; Work security and health; Roma minority's social inclusion; Social security models; Measures and good practices in social inclusion; Combating undocumented labour (by unfolding joint inspections of the labour inspection's competent bodies); Policies and programmes in employment and exchange of good practices among the competent labour employment bodies'.

According to the Labour Ministry, Romania and Bulgaria thus continue the collaboration they started on 30 September 2010, la Sofia, when Bulgaria, Greece and Romania sealed a Trilateral Cooperation Agreement as regards the labour conditions and the rights protection as foreseen by the labour legislations. The event took place in the context of the 4th Romanian-Bulgarian inter-governmental meeting organised on Tuesday by the two countries' governments in Varna, wherein the two governments have adopted a Joint Declaration in the main areas of the bilateral, regional, European, Euro-Atlantic and international cooperation.
