Romania is hosting, for the first time, these days, the top international programme in the field of organ transplantation "Transplant Procurement Management," the National Transplant Agency (ANT) informs on Tuesday.
"Romania is taking a major step in the field of organ transplantation: for the first time, the international course 'Transplant Procurement Management' (TPM) - considered one of the most efficient worldwide - is taking place in our country, being organised by the National Transplant Agency (ANT), in partnership with the DTI Foundation from Spain," informs the ANT in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
The event takes place within the National Coordinators' Meeting, which is attended, between June 2 and 4, by medical professionals who will learn, step by step, the entire process of organ donation - from donor identification to the latest innovations in transplantation - through interactive workshops, real case studies and sessions held by international experts from Spain, Slovenia, Croatia and Romania.
"It is, without exaggeration, the most efficient course in the world in the field of donation and transplantation. It is an essential step for Romania, considering that the teams dealing with donation must be periodically trained on all modern techniques regarding organ and tissue donation. That is precisely why ANT got involved in organizing the course of the DTI Academy in Spain, the most efficient country in the world. Such trainings are extremely important and have a direct impact on the donation rate and, implicitly, on saving lives," said Guenadiy Vatachki, executive director of ANT, quoted in the press release.
The course aims to create a network of well-trained specialists, capable of quickly identifying donors and efficiently coordinating the donation process - a key element for Romania in strengthening its position in the field of transplantation at the European level, ANT emphasises.
