St. George’s, Grenada — H.E. Mrs. Theodora Mircea, Ambassador of Romania to Grenada, with residence in Havana, officially inaugurated the Honorary Consulate of Romania in St. George’s during a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Hon. Dickon Mitchell.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Mitchell described the opening of the Honorary Consulate as a significant step forward in the development of bilateral relations between Romania and Grenada, highlighting its role in enhancing diplomatic and institutional cooperation.

The event reflected the continued growth of relations between the two countries and Romania’s broader engagement with partners across the Caribbean region. Representatives from public institutions, the diplomatic community, and local stakeholders were also present at the ceremony.

During the inauguration, Mr. Kennie L. John was formally appointed as the Honorary Consul of Romania in Grenada. With extensive experience in the business and financial sectors, including insurance and regional development, he will support efforts to promote bilateral cooperation and facilitate dialogue between the two countries.

The Honorary Consulate is expected to contribute to strengthening cooperation in areas such as education, economic relations, and cultural exchange. It will also provide assistance to Romanian citizens and support the development of people-to-people connections.

The establishment of the Honorary Consulate marks an important development in Romania–Grenada relations and reflects Romania’s continued interest in expanding partnerships and diplomatic presence in the Caribbean region.
