Romania qualified for the main groups of the Under-21 Men's Handball World Championship in Poland, after defeating North Macedonia 28-27 (12-17), on Thursday, in Katowice, in Group F.
The tricolors started well (2-0), but were led 17-12 at halftime. In the second half, the players trained by Adrian Petrea managed to equalize in min. 52 (24-24), turning the score from 22-24 to 25-24.
In the other match of the group, Iceland and the Faroe Islands finished in a draw, 35-35.
In the standings, Romania are in first place, with 4 points, followed by the Faroe Islands, 3 points, Iceland, 1 point, North Macedonia, 0 points. The top two finishers qualify for the main groups.
Romania will play their next match on June 21 (12:45), against the Faroe Islands.
Romania have not participated in the competition since 2015, when they finished eighth. AGERPRES
