Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu qualified on Friday for the semifinals of the ITF tournament in Toyota (Japan), with prizes worth 60,000 US dollar, after defeating Japanese Haruka Kaji.
Buzarnescu (aged 29, WTA's 68th), the main seed of the competition, managed to win in one hour and 20 minutes, scoring 7 aces in her face off with Kaji (aged 23, WTA's 322nd).
The Romanian national, who is in the best period of her career, lost only an event of the last 13 events, winning the title in Poitiers (France, 100,000 US dollars) and playing the final in Tokyo (100,000 US dollars).
In the semifinal in Toyota, Buzarnescu is to face off Chinese Jia-Jing Lu, seeded 5th, who defeated British Laura Robson, with a score of 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-4. Lu (aged 27, WTA's 229th) managed no less than 14 aces in this event. AGERPRES .
