Romanian Academy Awards - Director Cristi Puiu and actor Marcel Iures, among laureates

The Romanian Academy is awarding, on Wednesday, prizes for the most valuable scientific and artistic creations made in 2020, director Cristi Puiu, actor Marcel Iures, art critic Pavel Susara and director of the Village Museum Paula Popoiu are among the laureates, told Agerpres.

The event will take place in the Auditorium of the prestigious forum, starting at 10:00hrs, in the attendance of the members of the General Assembly.

Director Cristi Puiu will receive the "Aristizza Romanescu" Award for the film called "Malmkrog" and actor Marcel Iures - the same distinction for "Resistance through theater cycle" (productions of the "Act" Theater, broadcast online in 2020, directed by Alexandru Dabija) and "Rosto" (staged in 2020, premiering in 2021, directed by Alexandru Dabija).

Art critic Pavel Susara will be rewarded with the "Lucian Blaga" Award for the work called "Brancusi", and director of the Village Museum Paula Popoiu will be offered the "Simion Florea Marian" Award, as co-author of the work titled "The popular garb from Campia Munteniei in the collections of the "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum," with Georgeta Stoica and Georgiana Onoiu as authors.

Among the winners also included are writer and literary critic Andreea Rasuceanu - the "Ion Creanga" Award for the work titled "The wind, the spirit, the breath," literary critic Irina Petras - the "Titu Maiorescu" Award for the volume titled "The eyes of the mind," and translator George-Valentin Volceanov - the "Lucian Blaga" Award, for the work titled "The return of the Great Will or Reconsidering the Shakespearean Canon."

The prizes are awarded, according to the regulations, within the 14 scientific sections of the Romanian Academy, namely: literature and philology, history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, technical sciences, information technology, biology, medicine, agronomy, forestry, sociology, psychology, philosophy, visual arts, theater and music.

Within the event, the Romanian Academy will also award an "Academic Merit" Diploma and four "Cultural Distinction" Diplomas.
