"Now, more than ever, the energy sectors of the countries in the region, Romania included, are faced with extraordinary challenges, and the complexity of the problems is amplified by the current pandemic. As regards Romania's energy sector, there is a multitude of external and internal factors that set the prerequisites for a new vision, calling for a new approach to the development of this sector. With the energy sector standing at a turning point, we must rethink the solutions to improve its situation in the perspective of a new beginning. Also, the increasingly faster transformation of energy technologies is notable, with some completely new, even so called 'disruptive' technologies gaining ground, which requires a readjustment of the relevant policies transposed through an appropriate legislative and regulatory framework," the organizers said.
"The necessity and importance of the event are given by the timeliness of the EU economic relaunch and by the promotion of financing and support programs such as Green Deal, Next Generation, Just Transition Fund, initiated by the European Union and which see the participation of member states. The entire legislative framework, Package 55, needs to be redrawn, which involves changing the Electricity Law, the Renewable energy Law, the Energy efficiency Law, that is, the primary legislation," said RNC-WEC Chair Iulian Iancu cited in the release sent by the organizers.
