Romanian tennis player Gabriela Lee qualified on Wednesday for the round of 16 at the ITF tournament in Targu Mures (with total prizes of 60,000 dollars) after defeating Ukrainian Nadia Kolb 6-3, 7-5.
Lee (29 years old, no. 398 in the WTA) won after one hour and 19 minutes.
Lee (formerly Talaba) also defeated Kolb (32 years old, no. 757 in the WTA) in 2012, in the round of 16 in Varna, 7-6 (7/3), 7-5.
In the round of 16, the Romanian will face the Japanese Mai Hontama (25 years old, no. 164 in the WTA), the fifth seed, whom she defeated in their only previous meeting, last year, in the qualifiers, in Charleston, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
The four juniors on the main draw in singles lost without appeal in the first round: Giulia Safina Popa, Anamaria Federica Oana, Maia Ilinca Burcescu and Mara Gae.AGERPRES
