The Romanian Gendarmerie announced on Wednesday, in Bucharest that it will render the presidency of the Association of European and Mediterranean gendarmeries and police forces with military status (FIEP) to the Jordanian Royal Gendarmerie.
"In 2016, Romania, through the Romanian Gendarmerie, held the presidency of the Association of European and Mediterranean gendarmeries and police forces with military status (FIEP), context in which it will organize the Senior Council Meeting of the FIEP, marking the end of its tenure and will handover the presidency to the Jordanian Royal Gendarmerie organization, which will be in charge in 2017," a press release of the Romanian Gendarmerie, sent to agerpres on Tuesday reveals.
According to the release, the event will take place on Wednesday, starting 14:00 hrs, at the Parliament Palace and it will gather the gendarmerie and police force commanders which are part of the organization, namely from the 14 member states: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, Argentina, Chile, Qatar, Tunisia, Palestine and Romania.
During the FIEP Summit, the Romanian Gendarmerie will present its most important directions of action and the accomplishments obtained during its tenure. Also during the meeting, two new forces of law enforcement will receive the status of observer in the Association: National Guard in Ukraine and the Military Police National Council in Brazil.
The FIEP was created in June 1995 and its goal is to strengthen the relations and connections established between its members, promoting new manners and concepts regarding the international police collaboration, as well as the permanent exchanges of experience and information.
