Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea was defeated by Czech player Karolina Muchova, 6-2, 7-5, on Thursday evening, in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1,000 tournament in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), with total prizes of 3,664,963 dollars.
Cirstea (34 years old, no. 89 in the WTA) lost after one hour and 32 minutes.
Muchova (28 years old, no.17 in the WTA) is now 5-1 in direct matches. The Romanian's only success was recorded in 2023, in the third round in Miami, 7-5, 6-1. In 2023, Muchova won in Dubai, in the second round, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4).
Cirstea had not won three matches in a row since last year's edition of the Dubai tournament, where she reached the semifinals.
Cirstea won a cheque for 83,470 dollars and 215 WTA points.
