Romania's blind Ju jitsu team leave for World Games 2025 in China

Eight Romanian athletes qualified for the blind Ju jitsu event at the World Games 2025 on Wednesday left for Chengdu, China, where they will take part in the multi-sport games, similar to the Olympic Games, which includes sports considered less known or Olympic.

"From Romania there are 22 athletes qualified for the World Games in Chengdu, China. Of these, eight are in Ju jitsu, of which two from Bucharest, two from Reghin and four from Targu Mure. The 12th edition of the World Games - World Games 2025 will take place between August 7 and 17, 2025, and 4000 athletes from all over the world participate in them. We will be among the 4000 qualified athletes there throughout August 13, because on August 12 we compete and we return home. We travel with Attila Szanto (blind) and his partner Alexandru Belean (non-para) Tinu Vasile Pop (blind) with his partner Sebastian Cerghizan (non-para) of C. S. Sportgrup Sakura Targu Mures, Arpad Csiki (blind) with his partner Vlad Halatiu (non-para) of C. S. Red Dragon Reghin, who are joined by Ionut Dobre (blind) and his partner, Genoveva Dobre, both from Bucharest. We are about to embark, and we want to return home with medals," coordinator of the Ju jitsu team, Adrian Belean, told AGERPRES on Wednesday.

At the World Games 2025 there will be 34 sports and 60 disciplines, with the official opening scheduled for August 7.
